Who actually holds the money?

Safehold holds it in a segregated account, separate from owner, tenant, and our own money. It's released only when the terms are met or both confirm.

What if there's a disagreement at the end?

The deposit stays locked, neither side can withdraw alone. The photos and terms are reviewed, and the money is released by what's fair.

Can I use the receipt for taxes?

Yes. Every transaction generates an itemised receipt with amount, dates, and reference, the clean proof of payment a private arrangement can't give you.

Is my rental listed anywhere?

Never. Safehold isn't a marketplace and nothing about your place is public. We just hold the deposit for a deal you made yourself.

What does it cost?

2% of the deposit, charged once and shown upfront. No surprise deductions. That's the only fee: paying rent through Safehold is free, we collect it and send it to the owner at no charge.
